Pi Lambda Phi Endowed Scholarship, In Memory of Christopher Kampel '14

Christopher Kampel was a dedicated student, faithful fiance, beloved son, and a dear friend to many in the Adelphi community. After graduating in 2014 with a degree in Computer Science, Christopher pursued his passion and began a career in the field of Information Technology.

In March 2020, Christopher contracted COVID-19; after a lengthy and courageous battle with the virus, he passed away on July 13, 2020 at just 28 years young.

During his time at Adelphi, Christopher was a proud Brother of the NY Phi Lambda Chapter of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity. Those who knew him will eagerly attest that Christopher was the definition of what it meant to be a Fraternity Man: he was incredibly kind, caring and always made everyone feel welcome. Most importantly, Christopher was a man of his word; he was the friend that you could rely on and he sought to find the good in everyone.

As a way to keep Christopher’s memory and legacy alive for years to come, the Brothers and Alumni of Pi Lambda Phi Fraternity have amended an alumni-established scholarship fund to now be known as the “Pi Lambda Phi Endowed Scholarship, In Memory of Christopher Kampel ‘14.” In addition, funds will be used to name a seating area in the New University Center.

This endowed scholarship will benefit future generations of Pi Lambda Phi members who attend Adelphi and demonstrate financial need. We take solace and pride in knowing that in this tangible way, Christopher’s giving spirit will live on for “Not Four Years, But A Lifetime.”
